When completing an application form, it is important to remember that these forms are in sections. Each section covers an different area, which helps an employer to understand you as an individual and you as an potential employee.

Personal Details
This is the easiest part of the application process. This sections is asking for your details such as name, date of birth, address, contact details and gender. Some jobs will also ask for your National Insurance number too.
Education/Training & Qualifications
This section is asking you about your education history such as what schools, colleges and universities you attended and the years you attended. Once you have provided this information it will then ask what qualifications you have achieved during your education. It will ask what subjects, what grades you achieved and what exam board your qualifications come from. You can include any qualifications and certificates you have achieved during your work career and/or training while unemployed.
Employment History
This section is all about your work history. The form asks you to state what positions/jobs you have had, the company, the dates you worked and some even ask reasons you left your jobs. If you have had any gaps in your employment it is very important to make sure you explain these to an employer. Failure to do this will harm your chances at gaining an interview.
Person Specification/Support Information
This section is all about showing how your skills, knowledge, experiences and your personality make you suited for the job you are applying for. It is important to evidence any points with your practical experiences. It's your chance to show the employer not only how much you want the job but why they should choose you ahead of all the others. Do not waffle in this section......stick to the point. Also, if you do not quite match all the criteria required then use this section to state your willingness to learn new skills/training and what you can bring to them. Be honest!!!!
Activities/Hobbies
List all the things you like to do in your spare time. This gives an employer more insight into who you are.
References
This section MUST be filled in. Employers require you to give two references who they can contact to get an assessment about you. Make sure you give correct details. If your requested to attend an interview then they will contact your references beforehand.
