Would you know your interview well? It can be difficult during the interview to spot the indicators that let you know that it has/going well. Here are some simple indicators to help you gauge that your interview has gone well.
1) Second Interview – An interviewer will not invite you for a second one unless you have really impressed them. You've made it onto the shortlist and all you got to do is impress again!
2) Asking for References – I know some might say that during an interview that everyone gets asked about their references. So let’s be clear what we mean! An employer will do the usual check to make sure it ok to contact your references but if they start to ask for more details it usually means they're double checking as they intend/thinking about contacting them. An employer won’t waste time contacting your references unless you’re a contender!
3) Meeting the Team – Before the high number of applicants for positions an employer would usually introduce you to the team. Now as interviews can last all day with some employers interviewing sometimes more than 10 candidates, it not a practical thing to do any more unless it a small run business. You may be introduced to the odd one while being escorted in & out but if an interviewer does spend time introducing you to the entire team it’s a good thing!
4) Smiles & Not Rushing – If your interviewer is smiling lots then take it as a good sign. Ok, yes we know some would argue that the interview is just being polite but is an interview going to just smile at every candidate, especially late on in the day! Probably not, and if they laugh then like the smiles it’s a positive sign. Another thing to look out for is if you’re not being rushed in your interview. As we stated, interviewers can spend whole day interviewing so they have to stick to a timetable but if they allow you time to answer and ask questions, it’s good!
