As summer is here and the sunny days are happening, some job seekers will be torn between enjoying the sun & doing their job search. It is harder decision for other job seekers as they have to be doing a job search due to agreements with state employment services to receive their state benefits. So the question is do you have to stop doing your job search when the sun is out? The answer is NO! This is being written while out in the sun in the back garden!
There are things you can do in your job search that means you don’t have to stay indoors. We can enjoy the sun & be productive in our job search. We are going to show you the things that you can do while enjoying some sun. Before we do that, it’s important that you have the right frame of mind if you are to use any of our suggestions. You need to still give your all to the tasks you can do. You can’t allow distractions to hinder you so going the beach where there will be lots of people about probably not an ideal location. Pick a good location where you can enjoy the weather but also not be distracted.
(1) Updating/Revamping CV
If you have a tablet device then you can sit in the sun and either update your CV or revamp it ready for your next job application. If you haven’t got a tablet device then print off a copy of your CV, get a notepad and make notes ready to retype it up later in the day.
(2) Researching
You can do research in the sun whether through mobile devices that either have internet or wi-fi connections. You can research for tips & advice, people to connect with, what jobs to apply for next etc. Make sure that you apply yourself to this.
(3) Interview Ready
Can you get ready for an interview while enjoying the sun….Yes you can. You can research the company & job role, practice answering interviews questions and make notes on what questions to ask. Being outside may also help you relax more and fresh air can defiantly help clear the cob webs.
(4) Networking
You can network while sitting in the sun especially if you’re using your social media. Get online through your phone or wi-fi and get connected to people, build your list of contacts and find new potential opportunities.
(5) Apply for Jobs
Some of you can even apply for jobs with your mobile devices while sitting in the sun, enjoying the fresh air. If you got all the information you need and can get online then applying for jobs outside is still as good as applying for them inside.
(6) Make Plans/Goals
Whether it the start, middle or end of the week, you can still plan out your job search while out in the sun. Get your timetable ready for the week or month ahead, decide which goals you want to achieve or even what tasks you need to complete.
(7) Listening or Viewing Helpful Material
When you look for helpful job search material such as tips & advice, you can find it in various forms besides articles. You can listen to helpful podcasts or even helpful videos. A lot of us can download these onto mobile devices that we can take with us and listen/view while making notes sitting outside.
