If you are wondering what things you should be doing and are not so sure what they are, don’t worry. Below are a few things you should be doing after your interview. All of the tips provided will help you to develop and make a greater impression on your interviewer.
(1) The first thing you should do is straight after your interview is review yourself and performance while it still fresh in your head. What did you do wrong? What could you have done better? List the names of people you met. What things did you feel you need to improve? Don’t wait for feedback as one you need to judge yourself & two sometimes employers don’t send feedback.
(2) Compose a thank you note to your INTERVIEWER not the employer. Some individuals do make that mistake of sending the note to the employer. It’s the interviewer who recommends who should be hired. You should not just say thank you in the note. Have quick note of why you be a good addition to remind them how good you are to make a greater impression. Should be done within 24 hours of your interview.
(3) Sit down and have a full evaluation of your performance. Did you wear the right attire? Did you arrive on time? Did you introduce yourself to make a good first impression? How was your body language? What questions did you struggle with? What areas did you impress in and what ones didn't you impress? It’s important to be honest with yourself so you can develop yourself for your next possible interview. You may have to attend a second interview or in case you not successful be ready for future interviews so next time you are successful.
(4) At the end of the interview, you should always enquire when they are likely to make a decision. If they have given you a date and you not heard anything or it been a couple of weeks, then don’t be afraid to contact them. Don’t be pushy, just politely enquire what is happening and if they have made a decision can you have some feedback to help you develop.
